blue Jacaranda tree
Jacaranda mimosaefolia
Ornamental. Height to 15m. Deciduous to semi-evergreen, one of the most beautiful flowering trees. Will grow in most soils. Likes a hot, sunny & sheltered position. Susceptible to frosts. The Jacaranda tree is a native of Brazil and the West Indies. In late Spring its beautiful blue/mauve flowers provide an explosion of colour on open hillsides and in suburban streets. The Jacaranda blossom is bell shaped and hangs down in loose groups with the open end forming five soft, opening petals. Jacaranda is for ditherers. It is for people who start one thing and then before they have finished it move their attention onto something else, and then again on to another new project. They cannot seem to maintain focus on a single job until it is finished. They also have trouble making decisions because they keep moving from one possibility to another, afraid that they will make the wrong choice. Jacaranda is included in the Cognis Essence because of its quality of bringing a person's scattered energies into a single focus and clear mindedness, and has been found to help hyperactive children because of this attribute. Jacaranda can help a person make decisions quickly and easily and, having decided on a plan of action, stick to it.
